Our scientists developed the first commercial environmental microbiology genomic tests, with initial development in 2011 funded by Western Economic Diversification and supported by Genome Canada link. This early work, lead by Maven’s founder (Dr. Simair then went by the last name Haakensen), resulted in tests that are now common place in industry such as the Microbial Community Profile (MCP) and quantitative all bacteria (qBAC) tests which are all still in use today by various laboratories
